switching tanks.....

Im planning on moving everything but the substrate from my 20 gallon tank to my 29 and i was wondering if since im not gonna be using a new HOB or media for it will i still have to wait for my tank to cycle?

You might be able to get away with just moving the fish, filter and decorations over, but without the substrate, you do risk an ammonia spike.

The water itself carries very little of the cycle bacteria, so you may as well use new water in the new tank.

as fars as what will be moved the list is :
5 plants, wysteria and aponogeton crispus
3 pounds of driftwood with javamoss attached
pump (penguin 150)
fish


ill use new water and monitor my water closely

While I think you should monitor it and be ready to do some extra water changes, I think you'll probably be OK as long as you are diligent to keep your filter & all of its media intact and don't rinse anything in your tank off before moving.
