T-5 Vs. VHO??

Im currently building my 125gal and it has a large hood, it currently has 4, 48" flourcesent bulbs, im thinking of buying an Icecap 660, then getting 4, 48" VHO bulbs with a final output of 440 watts, i want a fowlr, is this enough for that, and would this setup ever support corals?

T5 would be better but it would be fine for the easier to keep corals...

If it's FOWLR, any light will do.

I ran my 110g for the first couple of years with 4 x 48w VHOs, and it was fine for softies and LPS. They're doing much better with an 8-bulb T5 fixture, of course, but VHO will work for less demanding corals.

well, since i can't edit my post, now that i look at the cost of ballast's and bulbs and hardware im looking at t-5 fixtures, around $500? any good ones?

make sure you get one that has individual reflectors

for each bulb? what difference would that make? make it more "powerful" to penetrate deeper?

yes for each bulb.... it makes the world of differance on the par they put off (way more light)
