Tank Condition

ok i just got a test kit

my readings are the following

Nitrate .2

Nitrite 0

GH between 200 and 300

KH between 250 and 300

PH 8.0

temp in tank at night is 78-79

temp in the day is 82-84 no heater btw

What should i do if anything

Is this for your 5GAL?
And... what is your ammonia levels?

yea thats for my 5 gal

i dont have a ammonia tester, i just got some test strips

ill have to pick that up either this weekend or monday

I am assuming your tank is cycled? Do you change the water a lot?

no unfortunately i like to research fish before i buy fish, i heard stuff about it saying you need to cycle your tank but they never said how to.

But untill this week i never knew how two cycle so to answer your question, no it is not.

i just use to think to cycle your tank was the to leave the filter on the tank for a few days

You sure the NitrAte is .2?

I've never seen a nitrate test kit with a graduation of less that 1. That sound more like a nitrite reading. It would also be consistant with your stage in the cycling process.

If you're just starting to get a nitrite reading, your ammonia is probably up there. I'd guess in the 3-5 range. It's probably time for a small water change to reduce the stress on your fish.
