Tank cracked

Cleaning my tank last night, the dumb *** that I am I cracked a small corner of my 40 gallon tank. I filled it up to see how much it would leak, and it trickles out a tiny bit at a time...is this repairable?

well, it depends in the serverity of the crack by the sounds of it, it would last maybe a little while, but im pretty sure after a while the pressure of the water would build up and spread the crack. Maybe if its high enough out of the water you could fill it up below it. Im not sure but i think the safest thing to do is buy a new one (drastic) id get a second opinion but thats what i would say

Where is it cracked? Often you can sandwich a piece of glass over the crack with silicone sealant. A hairline crack can usually just be sealed with silicone.

it's near the top, but I would still need to fill above it.

I bought some silicone last night and applyed it to the outside area, looks like I got a really good seal...I'll give it about 24hours or maybe a little more for it to completely seal.

It's usually better to give it 2 or 3 days (especially in damp SoCal weather) to make sure it's fully cured.

Looks like I got a great seal.

I filled it up and no leaks!!
