tank question

Hello Im new to the forum and i have always heard not to use a 55gal tank if the center plastic piece is cracked or broke is there any way you can fix it like run a metal bar across and drill holes in the plastic and bolt the bar to the plastic or any help would be very appreciated Thanks

That center brace is very important for the integrity/stability of the tank. Yes, I have a 55 where the center support was broken...I had my dad make a strip of sheet metal that fit over it and we drilled holes in the pieces and snapped them all together (I forget the kind of connectors...its something really easy...they are like buttons or snaps that you use a little gun type thingy to shoot together). Its been holding steady for hmm over a year now? And I've moved the tank once too. I got the tank for free so I couldn't just not try to fix it :)

thanks for the reply thats just what i was thinking of doing i believe your talking about rivets my tank was free so i hoped it would be able to be fixed
