what size tank is a good size tank for a beginner would be?

Generally, the bigger the better, but bigger tanks usually mean more work. A good compromise for beginners is 20gallons.

It is true. A larger tank will be so much easier to cycle and make sure there arent any water parameter swings. It is harder to Clean and do water changes in a big tank but still it is worth it because the variety of fish increases, the bigger the tank is. Look into buying a Juwel Rekord 70. The Juwel range come with most of the mechanical parts you will need to start your tank and lots of good advice.

One thing to keep in mind - No matter what size tank you start off with, you'll want bigger. I started off with a 15 long, moved up to a 29 within 15 months. Last week, I was in the LFS looking at 125 gallon tanks and thinking about my bank account...

lol. My 1st was a 5ft 105gal form ebay for almost nothing. Came with everythng and fish! HARD WORK! Cycling with a tank full of fish is the hardest ever. Try and get a cheap one with everything already in it... not fish though. Ebay or a aquarium bid site.

I love my 29G tank...great size...I'd definitely reccomend that for a beginner.
