tank too hot!

My 5 gallon tank with two pristellas in it is WAY too hot. I'm not using a heater or a light in it, and it isn't close to either of these things in my apartment. How can I bring the temperature down?

I've read some people use a fan blowing on top of the water or even a bag of ice for a temp fix.

how hot is it?

If the temp rises gradually and tehy are not showing signs of stress, you might not need to worry about it. ALso, at higher temps, the water has less capacity to hold oxygen, so you may want to turn up the air pump if it is adjustable.

maybe try the fan technique, but a bag of ice in a 5g tank sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. i wouldn't go that route...

Why is it so hot? Do you have it in direct sunlight? Are you certain your thermometer is working properly?
