Tankmates for USDs?

Hey ya'll,

I recently moved my 3 USDs to a 30 gallon tank to themselves. The idea was to buy a couple of the friendlier cichlids to add as colorful tankmates, however...they are swimming around and loving the tank. The used to share a tank with bunch of misc. danios and 3 clown loaches and I ver rarely saw them. I love that they're swimming around and exploring the tank and I don't want to squash that.

Do ya'll think it was the previous tankmates that kept them in hiding or could it be they just love the new digs?

freckle**** i dont know about USD's but Danios are fast moving and very very active that very well may be what have kept your catfish in seclusion.

USDs = Upside-down cats (Synodontis nigriventris??)


I think you're prolly right dorkboy. I would hate to put something in there that would return them to seclusion tho

I had some Pictus Catfish with thosw once and they got along great.

Get something calmer than danios and you might see them more...

What about some kind of dwarf SA cichlid, like a pair of German Blue Rams, Bolivian Rams, apistos, keyholes, etc.?

A trio of corys, or a pair of apistos, GBR, Bolivian Rams, a lot of other dwarf cichlids....

Thanks for all the replies ya'll. I decided to with a species only tank after all, however, when I got home with two upside-down cats to add to my collection, a lone pale yellowish killiefish was peering up at me from the bag. He's in the Q-tank (along with the 2 new USD's).

I've posted a thread in the killiefish sub-forum if anyone has any advice on what I should do with the little guy.
