I have 3 zebra danios in a 10gal tank that has finally cycled.  I'd like to add another danio or two, but other than that, I'm unsure of what to add.

I was looking into dwarf gouramis, but I've heard that they won't get along well w/ the active danios.  Are there other small gouramis that would be more suitable?  What other fish could I use to round out my tank?  I'm trying to stay away from cories, but other than that and my love of gouramis, I'm keeping an open mind.  Personal experiences would really be appreciated.

I have a 10gal tank, hard water, and a high pH (7.8) along with lots of artificial plants and a few rocks (moderate cover).

Thanks!

I don't know if any gouramis would be good with danios. They have totally clashing personalities. But you should wait for others to answer because I've never had danios before.

I don't know why any one would be avoiding cories, but if you are looking for some other bottom feeder, khuli loaches will work in a 10 gallon.

I think Gouramis would be too big for a 10 gal tank.  I would suggest some leopard danios, platys, or swordtails. I think tetras would be ok, but I think they like a little lower ph-6.5

and I agree, cory's are great little bottom feeders for a small tank  :)

Ok, so the cories might be a good idea  :)

Would it be acceptable to have only two of them?  I've read that they like to shoal.  That would bring my total stock up to 4 zebra danios and 2 cories in a 10gal tank.  Does this sound OK (could I go for more danios?)?

Please let me know if you have had a good expierience with a cory species (with danios) as I don't know much about them.  Thanks!

I like the bronze as well.

I would not add gourmis, I will think the danios would annoy them in a 10 gallon.

I actually like the pearl danios a whole lot better than the zerbras. The long-finned zebras are nice too.

I have had just 2 cories and they played together well and I haven't seen a cory I didn't like.

I also think the pearl danios are very nice.

Will the smaller cory species do well in basic (7.8), hard water?  What species would you recommend that would do well in those conditions?

Also, does a loadout of 4 zebra danios and 2 cories for a 10gal tank sound acceptable, or could I raise it to 6 danios and 2 cories?

Thanks.

Almost any kind of cories would do well in those coditions   My fav bronze cories 8)

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm................ 4 would be your limit that might be a bit overdueing it though.IT depends on you water changes too.Like if you were to do a 50% water change a week that would work 8)

maybe I just have really adaptable fish, but I have 7 danios and 2 goramis in my tank and they all do fine together.  I also have tetras, but I have a bigger tank so maybe its just because they are not swimming on top of each other.  You might even try guppies, I had guppies for a long time and they liked to swim with my danios as a school.  Just a thought

You answered yourself for me....It is only a 10 gallon tank , That is why it is such an issue.(or was 2 monthes ago ;) )

I have also kept gouramis with danios in a 29 without a problem.
