Tannis In Tank

Hello all. Well even after soaking the wood that we put in the tank has given off a nice honey color. I have been checking the ph and it is still at 7.4 (we have pretty hard water, (around 100 ppm) We added carbon to the filter to try and lessen the effect of the tannis, it helped some but not a lot.

Do I need to be worried or will it just clear up on it's own??

after enough water changes it will be diluted to where it is not noticeable and it should not effect your water chemistry adversly so dont worry about it

Why not have tannins? dont you like the effect it creates?

a lot of tetras will appreciate the effect tannins have on the tank. You could throw in some carbon, it should really help pull some of the color out of the water.

I don't mind it as long as it isn't harmful to the fish or plants! I was worried that it might alter the water chemistry a lot, but so far it hasn't.

it might lower your pH slightly because of the acidity (I think) but if you have hardish water and do water changes a lot you should be fine.
