tap water as a source of calcium?

#1
i will soon be getting corals, and i know that some people dose calcium. i use RO water to prevent algae. my tap is SUPER hard, and we have calcium buildup like mad. the ph is also about 8.2 it has no nitrates in tap so thats good. i was thinking maybe when i get corals i could do top offs with tap water to add a little calcium, but still use RO water for WCs. would this be a good idea? should i do top offs, and WCs with tap? or should i wait to do that untill i get a good amount of corals?

RO Water changes with mixed salt should take care of basic Ca problems unless you have a decent amount of calcium sucking corals. The sea salt mix contains alot of trace elements that help out, including the calcium.

Some people who either dont want to use kalk or cant, dose a two part supplement every now and then. I admit I use B-ionic every once in a while (tho' they say most of it gets precipitated its been doing ok for me, dosed sparingly) along with weekly water changes and my Ca is at 450.
