HI
I was wondering how to breed my Buenos Aires tetras but first I need to know how to tell if they are male or female. I've looked up on how to try but I can never seem to get the difference of the two genders. Please give me any links on my issue A.S.A.P.

Thanks,
maxxieboy.

I did a random search and came up with this, I don't know anything about these guys, so I don't know how true it is.

""The male's fins are brighter red than the female's. Females are also more heavily built (rounded belly).""

""females are plumper, males fins are brighter.""

""males have red fins, females have yellow""

Seems to be pretty consistant everywhere. Hope that helps. :)

ETA: Well, not so sure about the yellow comment...

""The male will have brighter red fins, sometimes tending towards yellow. The female is fuller bodied and has a more rounded stomach.""

This tends to be true in all kinds of aquarium fish for further reference.

(hey maxxieboy, sorry about the comment in breeding section, i was a newbe one time also, my apologies)
This is why I like this site so much!!

Sorry I have no idea how to bread them. I have a breading pair of angels but that was dumb luck not knowledge and I have platties they just do that automatically. Good luck.
