i was at the local walmart today looking for a battery operated air pump and found a 2 1/2 gal bait bucket that is insulated, it has a battery operated pump with airstone , the insulated bucket would help hold in heat to keep the water warm and air pump attaches to the side so there is nothing dangling around or geting the air hose pinched.. *celebrate

How much is it? Does a heater fit into it? Instead of using as hospital tank, I'm thinking to raise brine shrimps in it. Do you think the bucket good for that?

it was 18.00 including the pump and stone , im not sure about a heater in it,, the styrofoam is the inner part, with teh plastic bucket being outside, might melt it, ive seen other larger buckets with simular features, but this is the first one i saw that was insulated

maybe you could find a smaller plastic bucket some where and set it inside the foam part... that would work well with a heater i think. but i digress, brine shrimp would be perfect for that... more so than a hospital tank. Depending on the size of the fish i'd get one of those small 2.5 gallon hex tanks.. they come with a nice undergravel filter system, pump, tubing, stone, and an incandecant light at the top which should provide enough heat considering the size of the tank. They have enough of a footprint to add in a plant and a small terracotta pot for them to hide in... of cource if its a bigger fish, just get a little 5 gallon or something.. you can judge that of cource.

i thought that this is something lightweight, and you can empty it and store it in a closet or attic till you need it, then drain 2 gallons out of your tank, dont have to worry about water treatment or cycling it cause its allready there, then just add fresh water to your main tank,, and treat the ill/sick fish,
