Ive been thinking about setting up my 10 gal. for smaller fish - Guppies, Zebra Danios, and maybe even an African Dwarf Frog and Beta. Firstly, would these fish be good together? Secondly, I told the guy at my LFS that I was running short on electrical outlets and only had two open ones with three needed items - light, heater and filter. He said that all of these fish (and frog) do fine in cold water and that I wouldnt even need a heater for that tank. Is he right?

Well one quick problem... that frog, would make snacks out of all those fish...

Being in california, you probably don't need a heater, but the temperature swings may cause undue stress on your fish. Why not just get a power bar?

its a "bar" that has about 6-10 plug-ins with a single cord to plug in the wall. A surge protector is a better "bar" with circuitry to protect your electronics from power spikes (like from lightning strikes) Anyways their exactly what you need for your computer, your stereo and of course your fish tank.

You can get cheap ones at Target for about $5 or you can spend lots if you feel the need for a high end unit

I really dont think an african dwarf frog is gonna be eating any of those fish.....they are about as big as my thumb nail and can probably only eat fry, but they are sooo slow I dont even think they could ever catch any! *hahahh*

The dwarf frogs I've seen, that start out at that cute fingernail size, get up to 2" in size... And are typical frogs, carnivores. I could be wrong, but I think the big africans got much bigger (and were even worse predators)

I dunno about you guys, but I remember growing up watching bullfrogs chillin out with half of a bird hanging out of their mouths. Never underestimate a frog :)

well at the shop we sell african dwarf frogs and they are more likely to be eaten than to do the eating.dwarf frogs are very slow creatures by nature and can starve if not fed properly cause the fish will snach it all right up.now the african clawed frog gets a little bigger than the typical dwarf frog and as the name suggests has claws which it uses to catch prey.they are notorius for preying on tankmates.

The african dwarf frogs I have are lucky to catch bloodworms right in front of there face with no one else around much less anything moving fast. Weve had ours for about 8 months now and they have never made an agressive move twords another fish. They might be 2in.

I also have the African Clawed Frog. These are a totaly different story. Right now they are 4in long and growing. They are fast, fat, and cram anything they can catch into there mouths. No problems with the tankmates tho, as they are with goldfish twice there girth.
