I had 3 Glowlight tetras and 3 black neon tetras. I come home and notice that there are spots on my fishes fins research it and found out it was Ich a week ago i started using Rid Ich and so far there is no difference. But the main point of my story is that today all 3 of my Glowlight tetras died. This morning i started to see them go to the top of the surface of the water and they have not been eating. I cant figure out what has happened to them. i need help quick so my other tetras don't suffer the same fate.

suffocation. most meds require that you turn up the air stones you have to max and lower your water level enough so that if you have a HOB filter, that it's waterfall can aerate the water even more.

overall meds can be very stressful for fish, and likely yours died from the meds themselves rather than the ich.

often ich can be overcome by raising the temp to around 82F and adding some salt to the water. 1/2 table spoon per 5 gallons is safe. use only aquarium salt.

also Melafix is one of the safest meds for this because it does no harm to the fish other than suffocate them unless you aerate your water well.

Is your tank cycled? Staying at the surface could also indicate ammonia or nitrite poisoning.

Yep, charcoal is typically between 65%-89% carbon.

I made the mistake of leaving my carbon in when my tank got ich a while back and I ended up wasting the whole bottle of rid ich before I realized my mistake -_-. Although, my fish ended up being okay after I bought a new bottle and took out the carbon.
