Just wanted to thank all who replied to my "what is it?" post. You have all been very helpful. Funny, when I first acquired him I thought he was Geophagus brasiliensis[/I]. We have several Santanoperca in an exhibit at the zoo and I leaned in that direction, but have since strayed. Always go with your first guess, huh? The company from which we were getting our guppies is in South FL and they raise several types of fish, including many species of cichlids. I assume my cichlid some how got into one of the guppy tanks. Lucky for me! He is a beautiful fish and actually quite personable. I will be nice to get him a female. Thanks again!*thumbsups
