as you can see by my signature i have 5 different groups of tetra's. the thing i love about all of them is they get along great even when i just had 3 of each. i would say my favorites are the rummy nose and the harlequins. the serpae's are the most colorful. i started with just 2 of each kind to see what i liked. some people feel a large group of one kind is more attractive but i like the look of my mixed tank and my fish are very happy :)

I would suggest Tetras such as Cardinal tetras that appreciate soft ,warm water that german rams require. My own expierience with german blue and gold rams have shown me that they do poorly in waters with pH much above 6.8 and do much better in soft acidic water. Might be something to consider. I would find out what the carbonate hardness of my water is before attempting to keep the rams.

Sounds good, should be a nice set-up. GBRs are a difficult one to please, gold rams even more so, they're just so fussy! But so rewarding when you get it right. I also second albino cories, pandas can be a bit funny which is a shame, I once bought 10 of which 6 were dead within a day - strange because water-wise I was fine, guess it must have been a disease from the shop because I returned the lot for a refund and their tank wasn't exactly looking healthy!
