I got them on saturday. The guy sent me 4, 2 died during the trip :( and the two he sent were males. So far so good, they are okay since they barely see each other, and when the do, they brightin they spots to a dark brown fan out their tails and play "chicken" swiming slowly tward one another, then the littler one will always dart away and hide behind a patch of fake glosso. and they both have esablished one side of the tank as their own. I will post some pics soon.

thanks for the math correction c_pann ? DERRR! anywho, yes they are completely freshwater, and agressive when they are in a small tank together, since they stay to the bottom of the tank mine never see each other in the 29 gal, and they are so small the tank is big enough for them.

they only get to be about and inch maybe a bit bigger, right now i could rest either one on my pinky finger nail and just his tail would hang off a lil bit. They are sooo tiny, I dont know if your cichids would eat them. But they wouldnt bother the cichilds, YOu need to have alot of fake or real plants, they spend alot of time swiming around in teh plants.

there are quite a few species of FW puffers, and yes they are also know as indian dwarf puffers on that liveaquaria site. they are also call malbar, and bumblebee puffers. There are actually 2 types of dwarf puffers. Monotreta travancoricus and the Carinotetraodon Imitator differences can be shown here: http://home.t-online.de/home/schraml.e/21art1e.htm

if you keep the cichlids in teh 20 gal you could get a fakhara puffer for the 50 gal, they get big and live in FW. they will mow down snails, shrimp or other small fish they catch.
