I bought a 180g reef ready Oceanic tank. The tank comes with a frame on both top and bottom.
The problem I found is that the bottom glass can not sit on the stand completely after I put tank on the stand I made. The bottom glass sits on the frame, and frame sits on the stand, but between the bottom glass and the stand has a half inch space. Is it supposed to be like that?

Thank you

It is very, very important that you have that space with a glass tank. If you had the bottom flat on the base, it would make the bottom carry the weight of the tank instead of the sides. If this occurs, there is a high likelihood of the bottom cracking due to stress and the least little imperfection.

With acrylic, you do want it to sit on it's base, but that is because it will not hurt it like a glass tank and the bottom helps to support the weight.

You might want to consider insulating the bottom of the tank with some styrofoam. It will help to stabilize the tank temps.

I found some stuff made for insulating attics, styrofoam sheets with a foil-like coating on one side, at Lowes.
