I have been thinkin about ( Lorna is going to love this) Getting another tank to keep my two Maroon Clowns in and to put my zoas and polys in, My question, what is the minimum size this tank needs to be to keep my two clowns in? they arent big now ( 2 1/2 inches) but they will grow. I am not going to get the minimum, I just want to know how big it must be. Also does this tank need to have MH lights, all I will have in the tank is my Rose Ann. and polyps and zoas.

Get a 29g.. That's what I have now, you can get away with t5's.. MH's arn't needed really.. You have to figure nem's get rather large so you don't wanna have that small of a tank either.. With just keepin zoas you don't need alot of flow either so you won't have to get expensive power heads or anything..

The people I got my nem from are going to ( I think ) sell a 40 gallon tank, I was thinkin about getting that if they decide to sell it. I didnt look at it that close when I was over there, but I am sure it dosn't have a sump but I dont know what they were using for a filter system, I do know it had T5 lighting.

If not running a skimmer you will need to be very dilligent on the water changes especially with an anemone. They require somewhat high quality STABLE parameters and really should have high lighting as they are photosynthetic obtaining most of their nurishment from light. I would not get anything less than a 29g and a 40 would be perfect for the maroons.

Well, I talked to the people with tank and its a 29g, but they havent decided if they want to break it down yet or not. I really want to get at least a 40g, so I will keep looking.

40g is a better size for maroons....... they can get to about 5-6 inches in length, though they are not great swimmers.....like a tang.....they don't need as much room as long as they have their bta they are happy.

Talked to my man at the LFS, he has a 49g tank that is drilled on the bottom, it is more deep than it is long, I really like this tank, now I need to find a used one. With it being a deep tank I think I could really terrace the LR in the tank and make alot of levels to the LR for alot of places to grow the Zoas ans Polys. This is a project that is going to take awhileeeeee to complete, but honey I got such a good deal on the tank. But at least I know what I am looking for, its a start.
