After my guppies die, which are in a 5 gal tank I was thinking of getting betta fish. My question is how many Female betta fish can I put in my tank without having territorial problems? Also can I put other fish with bettas, even though they use different water conditioners? If so what are the best fish to keep with them bettas. Thanks

Actually, they don't need different water conditioners.

For tankmates, stick with calm, small-finned fish. I have harlequin rasboras in with my male betta. I think you have more leeway with females, but a 5 gallon is small, and I would think that she'd be more likely to be irritable if she is crowded.

You don't want multiple bettas in a tank that size, even females. They'll fight unless they have enough room for separate territories... I had 2 in a 10g and they fought too much to leave them together for even a whole day.

With just 1 female betta, you could have a couple of dwarf platies or some small tetras/rasboras, but there isn't room for much more than that.
