what would be a good size for a small saltwater tank to house a few fish?
and how many silly questions can i ask before you all get tired of me? :p
i have never done saltwater before so it's just a thought so far
also what kind of test kits should i have for a salt water tank?
right now because i drive for work i just take my water into the local petland a few times a week for free tests, but they dont do salt water at all

start there as thats a very good read for someone looking to start a nano saltwater tank.

a good size nano tank would be the largest tank you can afford and use space wise. I would say if you want 2 fish a 20 long would be the minimum for space and water needs.

very few :D

theres alot of test kits out there but none can beat salifert test kits (but there also the most expensive) I used the aquarium pharmacuticals saltwater master test kit prior to switching to salifert and I loved salifert now. However you could get by with the a.p but its accuracy can not be compared to that of a higher brand.

We see these kinds of questions quite a few times and every anyone on here sees it we have to reccomend this: The New Marine Aquarium by Michael Paletta. The key to a successfull tank is to do your research prior to doing anything. research before hand will eliminate uneeded headaches and problems down the road (atleast the majority of them if not all of them)

none can beat salifert test kits (but there also the most expensive) just as a note, while the salifert tests are nice, they are not consistently more accurate than any other hobbyist kits, but then again they are nothing like the most expensive - Heche, LaMotte, will run you 70 dollars plus a kit

go with a 20 definitly ... the 10 gallon is way cheaper but also way easier to mess the water up... the 20 will still be kinda inexpensive but a little easier .... the bigger the tank the harder it is to mees the water up ;)
