Well, I came home from work today to find three fish sick.

First is one of my female guppies, which I am afraid might be beyond help. She has kind of a tanish thing in the middle of her tail and it is causing dropsy. I'm not sure how she got this thing, but that is her problem.

Second is one of my long-finned rosy barbs. Her (I'm assuming it's a girl) anaul openning is sticking out (if you know what I mean) and is red. I don't know what illness this would be or why it would happen.

Third is my gold CAE. He has a bump on his body that is a bit red.

I have put some Melafix in the tank to see if it helps and I plan on cleaning my tank probably tommorrow. Let me know what I can do, if anything, for this fish.

I would guess that the guppy and the rosy barb are beyond help. You could try antibiotics on the guppy, but by the time the scales are sticking out, it's usually too late. I've had the "guts hanging out" on a few fish, and haven't yet found something to help.

The red spot on the CAE may go away with Melafix. If it gets worse, antibiotics may help.

Well, here's an up date. The guppy, sadly, but not unexpectedly, has passed on, but the barb and the CAE seem to be doing better. It's still to soon to tell for sure, but I think the Melafix might be doing both of them some good. I also put the barb in a good sized breeder to keep him away from the nipping mouth of his/her barb buddy, so that might be doing some good too. I'll keep you up dated on if this actually does work, but so far it seems to be.
