hey! i was wondering what is a good temp for Tiger Barbs?
What type of heater is best for a 30 gallon tank with 4 tiger barbs(a cheap one, if possible)? Any advise would be good.

Well, we have no experience w/ TBs, but the profile here says something like 68-79*F.  From other research and info from ye olde LFS, everyone else pretty much agrees w/in a couple degrees.  But then again, there's always going to be a little deviation between opinions.  Our guess, go with the profile here and you can always double check w/ your LFS people, if you trust them.  That's usually how we operate and we have had no problems, now that we've found a LFS w/ an operator who knows what he is talking about and didn't just get into the biz for the $$$$.

When buying a heater you want about 5 watts per gallon.  Get a submersible.  I personally like the tronic brand, ebo jagers are supposed to be very good also.  I would be very cautious if you  buy a really cheap heater, all you fishes lifes depend on it.  You can get really good prices at bigalsonline and petwarehouse.

I have 6 tb's in a 29 gal tank which i keep at 78-80 degrees. I use a 100 watt heater for the tank and i seems to work well. Just wish they would quit nipping at each other!
