Being it is daylight savings time and we have to "spring" our clocks forward, do you adjust your timers? I have timers on all my tanks so the lights are on an appropriate time for the plants, but I also have them turn on about 10 minutes before I come down in the morning so I can check the tanks out. Then go out after I leave. They also come on before I get home and stay on till about bed time.

I'm not sure about digital ones, but you don't have to with the manual timers. You only have to adjust them if you want the time to be right. But other than that, no you don't.

I have mine set so that the lights come on a little while after the sun lights up my apartment. The fish probably don't care, but it seems like a much more natural way for them to wake up than it being dark, then boom-light all the sudden. I should probably change my timers ahead an hour so this will keep happening.

I have mine set for 5am-9pm. My fish seem to be ok with that, but ever since I started doing that (1 week ago) I've been getting up naturally between 5am-5:30am. It drives me insane, but I get up anyway and get ready for school. I don't even bother setting my alarm anymore, cuz I get up way before it goes off.*crazysmil
