If it is aiptasia I know some one who makes their own stuff to get rid of them. He states that its basically pepper juice, thats what kills them he thinks (I dont know, have to test that). Yes you have to get rid of them, they can sting corals and harm them, and they can multiply like crazy.

i also noticed these other little anenomes on my rock but they are different color than the aiptasia. these are whtie with little black lines--something like a zebra stripe anenome -are these aiptasia as well? i got rid of the other aiptasia with joes juice-that stuff really works!

a true peppermint shrimp will eat those darn things as well. I got a couple for my tank and those aiptasia's were gone overnight. That's if you want peppermints though, they aren't as colorful as some of the other shrimp out there but they are still cool.
