To bio wheel or not?

Have a 125 gallon malawi tank running a Cascade 1200. The Cascade has a bag of ceramic bio material in it. Just picked up a HOT Magnum Pro with bio wheel. I'd appreciate anyone's opinion on whether I should run the Magnum with the bio wheel or without. I had a Penguin bio wheel on my old 30 gallon as the only filter. It worked but tended to gunk up and splash a bit. Your thoughts?
Thanks.

If it were mine, I'd probably run it, I have many Penguin/Marineland filters w/ Bio wheels, and the newer ones (like your HOT variety) have a much quieter operation, but you will still here that "splashing" sound from the wheel, it's just not as bad. ;)

I have 2 Biowheel Pro 30s (a biowheel pro 60 kit, setup to run off individual pumps instead of one) on my 46g tank. I never hear them. Just make sure the water level of the tank is high enough that you don't get trickling from the bottom of the biowheel assembly into the water.

The one on the left is currently unhooked. The one on the right is powered by the HOT Magnum 250. Rena XP3 intake/exhaust is in the space between the biowheels.
