Well now that my 55gal tank is well on its way to being cycled, i decided i would get a baby oscar and start it out in my 30 gal until my 55 was ready for it.

Problem is I got the only oscar in the world that is a picky eater. I bought the small wardly Floating cichlid pellets, and it wont touch them. He only eats flakes if they sink, he tried a couple freeze dried bloodworms before spittin them out. The only thing it seemed to really like was the sinking shrimp pelets except they are too big, and teh dummy gulps on one of them for like 10 min looking like its about to choke to death. What did you feed your baby oscar?

oh he is about 3" long now, and he cant quite get his mouth around the small cichlid pellets, so maybe thats why he isnt eating those

You 'aint kidding - these things are normally little piggys.

Sounds like he's never seen anything other than flake before, so you're going to have to re-educate him. Bloodworms are normaly a favorite, as are prawns when they get a bit bigger. I'd say keep him on flake everyother day so you know he's eating, but continue trying to get him onto normal food. Might be fine once he's settled in.....

Im thinkin its that, also the fact that im always throwing food in there might not be helping, im planning on taking this on teh same why i had my d. puffer switch from live to freeze dried, just feed him what i want him to eat, and eventually they turn.
