Is it possible to put to much filtration onto a tank? I was thinking about getting a marinland penguin 330 for a 20 gallon tank. Would this be overkill?

At the moment there is 1 5in Pl*co, 1 4inOranda, 1 4inButterly Goldfish, And 1 2inBlackmoore. They are extreamly messy eaters. Right now I have a Penguin 170 and an Aquatech that does about 120 gph. In the past 4 months I have probably spent more on filters for this tank than anything else. What other filter would do what I need?

I had a lot of filtration(water movement) in my ten gallon awhile ago when I had a juv. lace angel in it. The Angel became depressed, couldn't move much and almost died until I put a small corner filter in.

Im getting a Eheim 2026 rated for 90 gallons for my 55 gallon tank. That may be overkill but i really dont mind. I think my shark and other fish may like playing in the movement of the water. If its to much ill think about that later.

If the 330 is like the emperor 400, then it has an adjustment where you can lower the water flow. If worse comes to worse and the filter is two much for them, I can always put it in the closet and use it for amunition for getting a bigger tank! ( ME- But honey, we already have a filter that would be perfect for that tank.) :)

Those Eheims are spot on pieces of kit. I have a 2026 on a coldwater tank 36x15x15, but with the flow rate throttled back and a second spray bar added so the outlet flows across two thirds of the tank. Very flexible.

Hey, we never eat at the kitchen table anyway. And we have two bedrooms that have no tanks in them what so ever! But it never fails, she always has some pittiful excuse for not getting one like 'We need food' or 'We have to pay the electric bill' !

hehe, I say for electricity that we just get a bunch of hamsters and hook some of there running wheels to some generators!!! :)

haha, how about you setup a huge river system tank and put in little turbines in each section generating electricity :D
