Topping off Tank

OK a lot of water has evaporated and I tested the salt level and its at 1.024 and it was 1.021 when I started the tank. Do I add the RO water slowely over a few days or how do I do It????

The reason that the salinity elevated is cause water evaporates but salt doesnt. Honestly I just add the water all at once. I havent had any problem with it. Also a salinity of 1.024 is better than 1.021. 1.021 is a bit low

Wow, how long is it since you topped off?

I'd add it fairly slowly.

if that much water has evaporated than you should do it little at a time

what i do once my water starts to get low i grab some air tube and make knot it so it drips a few times a second and havn't had a probblem

Sry I posted before I finished cause I almost had a puppy accident in the house. With that big of a drop yes you wan to add it slowly. But usually I just add it every few days to keep from such a big drop.

I add about a gallon a day in my 55.

I have a 46 gallon and its gone down mabye a liitle more then an inch and a half

i add water to mine like 2 times a day... but it drops like an inch a day since i have a Fump© it only drops in there. i have measured my salinity while it was about an inch low, and i couldnt tell a difference from what it normally was. thats about a half gallon out of 30 gallons. you should be topping your water off whenever you see it drop at all. its not good to let salinity go up and down like that.

There is a salinity calculator I used before that would tell you your salinity after so much water is evaporated or added. In a 55 I don't think 1 gallon has much of an affect.

In my 75 I'll pour in 2-3 gallons at a time without thinking twice. Not saying it's the right way to do it, I'm just saying that method works for me.

just make sure u have lots of flow. i poured in about 2g in my 10g to lower the SG. did it all within an hour. everything seems fine. make sure the water isnt cold...
