So, I dumped all the young leopard danios I could catch (I have like 3 left)into a container and took them down to the "close to my house" LFS. Somewhere between 30-40 danios. Neither of us counted. We figured it was "a bunch". Fortunately for him, the store was completely out of zebra danios. Now he has spots vs. stripes.

And in exchange, I got a pair of pearl gouramis. There was some flexing over territories last night (gigantic snakeskin gourami told bolivian ram to stop picking on his cousins repeatedly), but everybody seems to be doing will this morning.

Value on the gouramis was about 6 bucks total. So, I guess that's what a batch of zebra danios are worth.

The value on trade ins totally sucks. Oh well, fish stores aren't charities.

Today I did a trade in too. The four angels in my tank were from my first batch of fry last year, and while three are growing normally and colouring up into gold beautifully, one just continued to stay wee. Perfectly formed, perfectly lovely, but wee, and the bigger three started picking on her. In the third pic you can see her hiding in the back while the others are doing the front-of-glass cruise-by.
I always advocate that fish owners should be prepared to rehome fish if needed, but I have to admit I dragged my heels on this one for a few days. Bye bye, baby.:(

Did you trade in the midget or the three big ones? The midget will probably get nipped to death at the LFS.

Also, what's that grass-looking stuff in your background?
I traded in the midget, but she's going in one of their NFS display tanks.
The plants in the background are jungle vals.

And thanks Kiara - they should colour up even more and the gold markings will become really pronounced. I still have Mutant-Boy - he's the one with a double dorsal fin.

wow, I usually get a good price. took in 30 peacocks and went home with a 5 pound tub of new life spectrum and 2 green terrors. that was somewhere around 3-4 bucks per fish. but still on that tub and been over a year now. and I got a second and third tank from trade in. aint spent anything out of pocket for my fish in about 2 years from sellin babies to my lfs. with the exception of my salt water tank.

Great looking Angels Lauraf! I am jealous of course.... :(

I just gave my LFS 4 platies. Next time I buys som fish there, he just won't take money or something. I know he will take care of me! In my case my LFS does a lot of breeding, so if you trade fish for the stuff he has little to no investment in, you get more in return.
