two 3" abramites for one 4" haplochromis moorii
after 4 months of the abramites shredding my plants it was time for them to go.the research said omnivorous not mainly herbivorous. they are cool looking and get along with my cichlids but in a planted tank.this haplochromis is a beaut. he has one more im working on another trade.i think i got the better of that one.steve

thanks. my reference books are in desperate need of up dating.old school i still use books.dolphin are easy to find info on ,its the abramites i couldnt find to much info on (even on line).

They get very large...someday I would love to have a tank big enough for them! There's something beautiful about a PURPLE FISH! There is a special place in my heart for them. One of my lfs has two of them and I wished so much I could have them -=sniff=- Oh...and I think the second word has two i's doesn't it? Cyrtocara Moorii whatever, it'll probably come up either way

froggy looking for a purple fish that dosnt get that big?try a pair of pseudotropheus aurora. i think they are the best looking pseudo.purple/yellow ive had mine for over 4 years 4.5" a good looking/good tempered fish.steve

Are those the ones that you see with the front half purple and the back half yellow...or the ones with the purple body and the yellow fins? When I get some tank space freed up I will most likely get some cichlids...but for now I have to be content with dreaming of space for a large tank, ok, space for another tank period lol

lol you know I dont have room for them...but yes I will have a malawi tank when I get room (a real house) ...someday. For now I just do research and PRETEND to be getting them.

loach it was the abramites that ate the plants. the africans are not that bad.the only problem i have right now is one fuelleborni decided he likes anubias leaves.
