Transporting Fish?

#1
Hello everyone, I am quite new to this process but am eager to start it. I go to school 2 hours away however and am worried about transporting my tank. It is only a 5 gallon tank but would it be as easy as transferring some water to a 1 gallon jug from the tank and covering it with, say, a paper bag?

Does anybody have experience with this? I am going to get my supplies today so wish me luck and thanks for any information you can provide.

Yup that would be the easiest way to do it. This should not be tried with anything larger than a 10 gal. Anything bigger and you risk stressing the seams and later causing leaks.

What I've done with my 2.5g is about like that, except I put the lid back on over the plastic bag... it holds the bag on there, and you don't have to find somewhere to transport the lid. Actually, I leave the HOB filter and heater right in/on there when I transport it, so it all travels in one happy package.
