k i have a small question.

i have been reading around on tank flow and filtration, but i'm still wherry on pulling the pump system that came with my tank, and only running on the protien skimmer and my 300 gph power head.

right now i have my protien skimmer and the powerhead along with a biowheel and the origenal filter that came with the tank...

what to keep what to chunk?

In my opinion, you might as well keep everything but you should remove the filter media from the filters.

I second that... they are still usefull to produce flow in the tank and you already payed for them, might as well get some use out of them.

when pulling the filter media out you can use it to house carbon .....otherwise yes keep it for added flow

so in other words keep all the gear but loose the filter and the bio wheel.

use the filter system with out the filter and bio wheel for water flow.

when i first got started i had the HOB filter that came with the tank and i kept it for added circulation but got rid of it when i realized thats wher most of my salt creep was coming from
