Treating for ick, but fish in distress

As mentioned in a previous thread, I am treating my live-bearer tank for ick using higher temps and added salt (tho I understand the addition of salt is not necessarily part of the treatment). I have extra airation (sp?), and my parameters are coming back great (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5ppm nitrate) according to my testing, but some of the fish are still in quite a bit of distress. One molly and about 3 platies are testing on the bottom, clamped find and gasping. I know these are signs of poor water quality, but I tested 2 times in the last 2 days, and its still coming back good. The moly logs the worst off right now, as he is unable to hold himself upright. The others can at last do that. This is relatively rapid onset, as they were ok yesterday. The molly its also getting bullied by the other molly in the tank quite often. Could this be adding to his state? Is it time for some melafix? Our should I wait it out? Try something else? The tank has been at about 84 for the past 2 weeks and ick is still visible on some of the fish (tho not the ones having the issues). I do 50% water changes weekly...
Thanks guys!
(I feel bad that I don't have the time the rest of this week and segment to set up a qt tank, but I am going away for a wedding, so I can't even really keep an eye on the fish. I was going to do a water change again before I left)

Weekly water changes will not get rid of ich, it has to be daily vacuuming, just enough to vac the substrate so you get the parasite off the gravel to stop re-infestation to the fish. If you are only doing weekly changes there is no since in attempting the temp treatment as it will most likely not be successful.

Bump temp to 86 and daily water changes is great advice!! Small water changes instead of 50% might be better. Water changes can be stressful too with immune systems already compromised
