Okay, my angels are suffering from hole in head disease, and it's been painful to watch. I have been doing water changes and keeping you guys posted. Today my LFS got in some medication with Metronidazole, it is GENERAL CURE by Aquarium pharmaceuticals. It contains 125mgmetronidazole, 13mg copper sulfate, and 8mg trichlorfon per capsule. My question is, I don't use activated carbon, but I do have a full grown amazon sword in the tank, it is a 29 gallon, as well as some jave moss... do I need to take my plants out in order to treat the tank?
Here is a pic of the tank setup, I don't have a pic of the fish's current state as it's rather upsetting to look at for me.

so do I need to remove this plant before I start meds? I need to know ASAP so that I can start treatment.
thanks guys

Hi Toam,
I saw your post in the 'things that annoy me' thread........I was thinking you might get more response to your question in the aquatic plants section. I am assuming you are wondering if the meds would harm the plants? Or PM Lotus or Avalon directly.
Sorry, that's all the advice I can offer.
Good luck with your Angels :)

Yes, anything with copper sulfate in it will harm your plants. It may not kill them immedietely, but it can cause long-term damage. If you can, remove your plants while you treat. They'll do OK in a bucket with a light over it for a week or so if you don't have another tank you can put them in.

By the way, after the medication is finished, you will need to remove the copper with either water changes or some form of copper remover (water changes are cheaper). Copper isn't removed by carbon.

OMFG, I really wish someone had mentioned that to me earlier, I waited two days before adding the meds, and the gist I got was that it should be okay, and I added my meds last night. So I take it I already killed my amazon sword? or will removing it as soon as i get home help any?
