trumpet snails

anyone heard of these snails as being toxic to fish?? my friend said they're toxic or release toxic stuff in the water.  Is that true?

Nope, I have not heard of it but that does not mean anything. However, I dont think it to be the case.

nope. sorry. haven't heard anything about toxins from a snail especially trumpet snails. kinda funny how you don't see them during the day but at night they come out in droves...my rocks are covered by tiny trumpet snails. but they're good snails so i let them be.

I check some my links about trumpeters and I found no info about being harmful. Just a myth.

My mom has these in her tank. They aren't toxic to her fish. There are tons of these guys. But most of them stay under the gravel except at night.

Why are they an essential part of a planted aquarium? Should I add some to my planted tank? Right now I'm battling the evil ugly ramshorn snail that is trying to take over my tank.
