I have a 10" oscar in a 65 gallon tank, had to get rid of a Red Devil because of the fighting, I have now added another Oscar to the tank. I heard this isnt the best idea, but its been several weeks and no fighting has occured. Any thoughts on this? Or should I just return it before something happens...

Truly only thing I've seen about this and think of when it comes to this, is to just watch for anger and there already dirty little guys.. with territory issues IMO but if they don't fight then you okay.. Just look for dmg on the fish often.. show there fighting behind your back.

im not positive, but i think 2 oscars in a 65gal may be a bit cramped, but i cant preach about over stocking so thats all ill say about that lol. like Monoxide said keep a close eye out for any damage.

A 65gal tank is really only big enough for one. A pair of oscars ideally need to be in a 5 or 6ft. long tank. At minimum it should be a 90gal, though that's MUCH too small IMO.

It's not really a matter of aggression. It's a matter of space and bioload. They'll be okay for a bit, but the tank is too small for both and the water quality is going to be pretty horrible without extreme filtration and daily water changes.

I had 2 Oscars and a spined pleco in a 55 gallon tank, but I had it set up with some crazy filtration, I had 2x Penguin High speed biowheel amazon filters (each rated for 65 gallons), one feeding straight from the tank and the other feeding from an undergravel pipe and filter rack. I also had java moss growing on the undergravel side of the tank and on my driftwood, in addition to an under-tank canister filter. The Oscars loved the setup and the spined pleco loved to relax in the moss (after 2 attempt at biting that sharp pleco the Oscars learned he was not food!).
