My UB passed away this morning. He was having a very hard time breathing and didn't want to eat. I found his little form which once was UB laying motionless on the bottom. I scooped him up put him in a little container of water. I placed his little pin up (a female betta cut out I taped to his aquarium) and taped it to the outer of the container. I buried him in the backyard with a little white cross over him. He was my first and will always be my favorite Betta. He knew me and had such a personailty.

I got him at petsmart and when I paid for him the woman at the desk stopped typing and looked at him quickly and remarks he's quite pretty. And she sees dozens of fish get purchased every day.

When I first brought him home he had no idea what to make out of everything. It was fun watching him finally stretching his fins for the first time of his life and observing every plant and decor in the 6 gallon aquarium. One time on his first day I saw him swiming nose dive because he was studying a white flower on a silk plant! Then while doing some tidying up in the gravel, UB poked at my beauty mark on my wrist, to see if it was a Bio-Gold pellet.

UB's personality came through and he became a guard dog! He flared at everybody, me, my family, the cats, & a toy plush pigeon! He loved to flare and wiggle right next to my hand when I placed it on the tank. He loved his weekend bloodworms and slurped them up like noodles. On Sunday he ate his thawed pea, most of the time he ate it, but once in a while he would stare at the green dot and look at it like "Hmmp this is not a blood worm" and go back to the surface hoping I would skip his veggies. In order for him to eat it I had to pretend it was alive and he stalked his pea..little king of the jungle.

He had a favorite cave he slept in. His little "dog house" The only thing you would see sticking out is his head come close and he flares up giving me his bull dog face.

I only had UB for nine months and within that time I became so attached to the little guy. Near the nine months I noticed him not as active and he began to rest more. I would see him sleeping by the top of the filter and I would peek at him. With eyes in the back of his head he knew I was there and he turns around to flare his stuff. Only stopping till I walked away. He only made a few bubble nests so I knew he was older but he never stopped showing off with that grumpy old flare face.

I hope UB is in that huge rice paddie under the Rainbow Bridge and showing off for all the girls. I will always miss my little Bulldog.

Sniff* Thank you. Your right they have such adorable personalities. I wish they lived as long as a goldfish.
