undergravel heaters?

in doctors foster and smiths magazine i seen heaters thats go under the gravel not the rubber mats for small tanks either.i thought it was cool and wanted to know if anyone on heres used them and thinks there not the greatest or even ,aybe love them and would recomend them heres the link

It looks cool but at $67.00 for the complete set-up I would hope it works well.
I would actually consider it for additional heat for substrate heating in my soon-to-planted tank.
I hope I can find it for less than that though.
Good idea for supplemental heating.

You'll notice it says "use in combination with any heater" which means it's not a replacement for a regular heater.

They were popular for a while with planted tank people, but they don't really help with plant growth, and if you want to rearrange your tank, you'll find all the roots are twisted around the heater cables.
