Unidentified pleco

Hiya,

I currently own a 200l community tank. A friend of my brothers is getting rid of his tank and has a nice pleco that I'm considering adding to mine. However, I can't identify it, hence find out it's compatibility.

common sailfin pleco I believe. they produce more waste than they remove from the tank and really arent very useful.

your vid is a bit blurry. does his pleco look like mine? Mind you my little guy is still a baby at about 6 inches.

yours might be a common or it might be a leopard pleco due to all the illnesses your tank has been having. is his color like that normally or is he alot brighter tan?

I know mine is common and has always been that color. As for illnesses, I'm not aware of having any in my tank. Nitrate may be a bit higher than it should be but it's still manageable. Nothing a few water changes in the next couple of days won't fix.

thanks newman! it'll be fine I think. I think pulling out my orignally established greens yesterday is what caused this. It should be fine in the next couple of days when the new plants get acclimatized. I've been doing daily partial changes (30%) since yesterday and has been checking my params every 12 hrs. it's stable.
