untidy betta

hi i have a betta that i bought on inpulse form a local pet chor. the only problem is his fins look very untidy and tatty is this normal??

it could be fin rot, or he could just be beat up from living in a teeny cup, watch his fins for signs of them healing or continuing to disintegrate.

Tatty is ok ... unless of course you have a crown tail. In which case they will look untidy but that is how they are suppose to look. So do you think it really is frayed fins or is your betta a crown tail? Sometimes female bettas look "tarty" ... but that's another story.

it looks like a vail tail but the fins arnt spread out as muche as the one in the picture
