Hi Friends, I have a problem with my Platy. It is a Sunset Micky Mouse Platy and about one month in my tank. It was normal uptill yesterday and grown properly since I got it. But it developped some symptom from yesterday. First of all it is not moving properly and trying to stay behind my plantations. Gasping for air slowly and lost apetite. By the way it ate properly, today morning. But I feel it is having some problem. It is a male and about 1 and half inch long. My other fishes in the Tank are good. What should I do now? I am giving some other info related to my tank.
1. Tank Size - 20 gallon
2. Tank Mates: 2 other Platys and 3 Sailfin Lyretail Molly, 2 Platy Fry
3. Ph - 7.0
4. Water Temp: 78 F
5. Nitrite and Nitrate - 0
6. Ammonia - 0
7. Lat water Change: 5 days back
8. Tank Age - 5 weeks
9. Have some snails in it

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Sorry I really don't know. It doesn't seem to be related to the tank at all (zero ammonia and nitrites). Is it floating strangle (or sinking)? This could indicate a swim bladder problem. If so, you can feed him a piece of pea which usually helps. It won't hurt anything if any of the other fish get some too.

I had a few female platies that did this sort of thing-they hung on for a few days then died. No real idea what happened to them.

Have you noticed any white spots on him, from what you saying your fish is not eating and just hanging out in part with raped breathing well tyhis can be the fist stages of ick and it also can be a swim bladder infection. At this point its really hard to tell if he will make it 98 of the time when fish having a hard time breathing they die. if you have a QT put him in there and closely moniter him
