The tank listed below is located down the road from me but I am not sure what a fair price for a pre-drilled 180 gallon tank would be. Anyone know what the fair market value would be for such a tank with no hood, stand, filter, etc.?

eBay: 180 GALLON REEF READY AGA AQUARIUM FISH TANK SALTWATER (item 260028635178 end time Sep-10-06 19:29:39 PDT)

Also, I most likely will use it for fresh water. Do I really want a pre-drilled tank? Pros and cons?

Thanks.

I think it's already a little high, but it depends on how big a tank you really need. I recently got a 110g tank with stand and a ton of equipment for $300. Of course, the stand and equipment for it will add to your costs.

With a pre-drilled tank you could run a wet/dry filter, but that would cause problems if you wanted to do a planted tank.

Thanks Lotus. I think I found the exact tank online new for $777. I won't be able to go see the tank before the auction is over which makes me a little nervous. It won't be a planted tank but I have never run a wet/dry filter. I will have to look into it. I figure it will take about $1000 or so to get it running (stand, filter, gravel, etc.) so we are looking at $1300-$1500 when its all said and done. Its more of a question of how big a tank I want vs. need! I just passed on a 265 because I can't quite fit a 7 food tank without getting rid of one of the others. A six food is what will fit. Anyway, I have 4 hours until the auction is over to decide...................

It went for $455. I was hoping I could get it for around $300. I looked some more and found it online for $571 so I think I could find something cheaper used or for just over $100 more get it new. My wife was quite relieved.........
