Using a timer

can anyone tell me what all would be safe for me to put on a timer in my aquarium. i have a filter, protein skimmer,powerhead, heater,

Well sometimes i've heard of people turning their skimmer on and off, i wouldn't do it.

You could do powerhead, but it'd need to come on then off then on then off then on....so frequently that its not worth it.

I'd just use timers for the stuff that can be turned off for longer periods of time like lights.

air pumps are not used in saltwater due to the problem of salt creep.

I have my powerheads (2 maxijets) on a timer that alternates the pumps like a wavemaker

other than that only my lights are on timers.
