veggie prep for otto cats

I do have some brown algae goin on in my tank, but I have some zuchinni on hand that I thought I'd throw in for my 3 ottos.

This is prob a stupid question, but after blanching, do I throw in a small slice of it, or grate it, or what?

If it floats use the lead strips that come with plants to weight it down.
