Veggies for my cichlids?

LFS always have zuchini strapped to the floor of the tank and the fish seem to really dig it. What's the deal with that? Why zuchini, what about...celery? Is this merely to distract them from eating the live plants in the tank? I have bought a zuchini, and I am a little afraid to use it. Just want to know what the crowd is doing before I follow over the edge...

Anybody know?

The fish really do like zuchini a lot. In my store we try to feed them it 2 or 3 times a week its good for them adds a few vitamins and some variance to their diets we also use romaine lettuce every once in a while and oranges for goldfish only

They eat it, and enjoy it....though i can't speak for specific fish or specific species. That and cuccumber (spelling?). Plecos also love it.

Just be sure to take it out after about a day or so...it makes the water get pretty nasty if left in to long.
