Hi,

I hope someone can help me out with any suggestions.

I have a 29 gallon tank with 2 angels, 1 swordtail, 2 mollies, 1 platty, 1 pleco, 5 tetras and a very sick blue dwarf gourami. The tank has been running for 14 months. PH is 7.0, no nitrates, no amonia, temperature of 76. I did a 20% water change yesterday.

My Gourami has not been eating well since yesterday, he was still swimming aroud this morning, but he is getting worst, he is now sitting at the botton of the tank on his side. I have not seen any signs of ick or mucus around him, neither rotten fins or pine cones. He looks normal.

About two or three weeks ago one of my mollies got body fungus and I treated the water with maracyn plus.

All the other fish are well and active. When I fed them the gourami swam to the surface but inmediately went back to the bottom of the tank as if he had gotten tired. He didn't eat at all, although it seemed like he wanted to do so.

I don't know what to do. It's sad seeing the poor thing laying there, all he does is open his mouth and move his gills.

Has this happened to anyone?

Thanx.

It happened to my 3 first and last gouramis. They died on me w/o ever telling what's wrong with them. I spent a lot of time and money to cure them from what they possibly did not have (anti-parasite, maracyn 1 and 2, fin rot, metranidazole flakes, mela-pimafix). I had to buy whole new tank for them! Today they go bulling and eating like pigs and tomorrow they are goners. Also they tend to die rather slowly getting on your nerves.
Sorry, i possibly dissapointed you but prepare for the worst.
To me, personally, the word 'gourami' spells troubles.
