I was wondering if  could do a like 70 percent land and 30 percemt water setup... but not with a lizard, what about with maybe Gerbils?! or Mice? think it would be freaking awsome. Anyone think it could be done?!

sounds good the only problem is gerbil/mice cages can be a pain to clean and they like to kick things around so inless you got a tank divider your water will be covered in liter.

Hmm... well, my only thought would be, most domestic mice/gerbils/hamsters, die after they get wet. They get cold, and well, die.. I've seen it happen a few times. That's why they suggest using one of those little pokey watery thingys (somebody help me here!) over a little dish of water.. just a thought..

They die after getting wet because people put them in a nice, drafty cold place where they get sick then die.  If you get your hamster wet, put him in a terry cloth towel and rub his fuzzy butt gently until he's all fluffy again. You might piss him off, but at least he'll be dry and not catch a cold.  Chinchillas can't get wet. If you get Chinchilla fur wet, it -doesn't- dry because of the oils and the nature of the hair folicles. In which case, the chinchillas get really sick and die of cold. That's why it's important to give chinchillas dust baths and not water baths.  But hamster/gerbils/mice, they shouldn't die because they get wet. In fact, most of 'em are champion swimmers if you let them be.<G> Just don't let them drown.

You might be confused about the disease wet tail which hamsters can get and die within a day. A petstore sold my cousin a hamster but didnt tell them about how petstores put medicine in their water. So when my cousin brought it home and it didnt have its medicine it died.
