I moved Vixen (the V. fenestratus) from her tank the other day...I needed her smaller tank as a med tank for Karma. Anyway, she's now in his tank (temporarily or permanently, we shall see), which means she's over black gravel instead of white and has about twice the space. lol She's loving it.

Love her.

Actually, I don't think the gravel as anything to do with it. She looked just as awesome when she was happy, over the white gravel. I think it's just that she's so happy about having a much bigger tank, and her colour reflects it.

No doubt that new world fish are known to show 'mood' much more vibrant than the old world counterparts, I think that the background colors in the tank can make a big difference on how the colors on a fish appear to us. With her, it makes her darks darker, and the light colors stand out more against the back. Now, if the dark color wasn't concentrated in the center and was more on the outer flanks, then I don't think it would have shown up as good.

Either way, still a purdy monster.
